CHAPTER 1 (04.02.2020)
In our first lecture Kemal Teacher asked us to research “The progression of the Education of Maths, student profile, teacher-student relationship and use of information technologies since 1999.”
When every group presented their results as a table to compare the result that stood out was how the “communication had improved.” We saw that as years progressed teachers and students were able to communicate more comfortably and openly. The leading reason for this was definitely the advancements made in technology.
Maths games available on tablets.
Face to face conversation was once the only option available, however now these interactions can be made online.
Previously, teachers taught mathematics in a way students couldn’t comprehend, however now, teachers try to adapt their teaching style to fit the student lives’ in a way they can empathise with the subject and apply it to their lives.
What most interested me in class was the fact that in public schools teachers were elderly when compared to the young and dynamic teachers – who are able to use technology well – who work at private schools. This difference in the teachers’ profile is a strong motivation as to why parents choose to pay for their children to attend these private schools.
CHAPTER 2 (11.02.2020)
What is algebra? we discussed this issue. We watched Markus hohenwarter-Geogebra- A free math apps that created a global community.
We read the article given by Kemal’s Teacher and discussed it.
The video we watched also talks about how to use the ‘Geogebra’ application.
